We cover the following topics on our beginners drone training course:

  • Drone Assist
  • UAV Forecast
  • Necessary brand app for flying drone

Drone Basics

– Getting your Flyer ID, Operator ID (on drone) and insurance if flying commercially (costs not included in package, currently £10 annually)

– Max Height of 400ft(120m), Max distance of 500m, always in Visual line of sight

– Take off permission 

– No flying over uninvolved people (crowd if sub 250g)

– Make sure to check weather (wind specifically – UAV Forecast 

Checks Before Flying 

  1. Drone Assist and NOTAM (notice to airmen)
  2. Wind Speed
  3. Check Health of Drone (props, gimbal, legs etc)
  4. GPS signal before flying
  5. Return to home height
  6. Take off and landing working 
  7. Check all drone movements before flying away from close vicinity
